SUMMER <3

Yesterday was one of the hottest days of the summer so my friends, Sarah and Cheyenne, came over to swim in our pond! Yes it's finally warm enough! :) We swam from 1:00 to 5:00 it was so much fun and Drake, Brock, and his friend even came too. I even did a backflip off the deck into the water! It was pretty crazy but i loved it :) I hope we get to go again soon!

This is me and Sarah!

The Trek

On June 5, It was finally the day of the trek. Brock and me both went and my mom came because they needed a nurse to help. We had all heard about the trek, but never really thought it would be as hard as it was...
It was about 9:00 a.m. when we were all loaded up on the buses to go to a place that i still don't know the name of. We were first all split up into different families that we would be spending the next three days with. After that, we had to put our handcarts together and load all thirteen or fourteen poeple's things that they brought. At about 1:00 in the afternoon, we finally headed off to our destination. It wasn't so bad at first, but after a while you start to get pretty tired and hot. We walked, and walked, and walked... It seemed to go on forever. We soon came to the bottom of a rocky hill and all the Ma's and Pa's had a meeting. Then they took the men away and it was time for the women's pull. They almost canceled this event because they weren't sure if we would be able to make it up the mile long uphill rocky path. The men watched us from the sides and couldn't help us at all. Finally with all the doubts that were put on us, each cart made it to the top.
We later found out that after that we were only about half way. We took a rest then started walking again. It was getting dark, and we thought we were getting closer but it seemed like it would go on forever. When it was pitch black and you couldn't see over two feet in front of you, we were getting pretty cautious so that we wouldn't sprain our ankle or anything. We had to go through the rockiest part in the dark and we soon began to wonder whether or not we were on the right path. At each break we took, it was like we were all dead because as soon as that cart was set down every person laid down and tried to get in some rest. The sky was filled with billions of stars and that's the first time that I had seen that many people almost sleep walking and pushing the cart at the same time. FINALLY, at about 2:00 in the morning, the last cart pulled into camp. After not eating anything but the breakfast that morning, we were all starving. We each got a cup of broth, two rolls, and sat around the fire. We had walked over 14 hours straight, and 18 miles, pushing a hand cart! I didn't know think we were capable of it.

The next day we walked about 4 or 5 miles to the next camp. Then we went to different stations and learned about the games the pioneers did, and we ate some things they did too. We even got to wash our hair! =] It was a little weird, because each girl had to partner with a guy, and they had to wash each other's hair. But I was just glad to get all the dirt out of mine. We got to throw axes at logs, shoot guns, make taffy, try to beat each other's time in cutting the log, kill a chicken then cook it, make butter, and wash our hair.

Getting to wash our hair :)

This is Brock getting ready to go shoot the guns, and me throwing the axes :)

It was the last day and we were all heading to the buses. Although it was very hard, especailly that first day, I had alot of fun! :) my family was great, and i got to learn alot of new stuff. I'm glad that me, my mom, and brock all got to go. It was great!
